Reading Notes Week 2B De La Cruz Poems

Poem 92 by Sor Juna Ines de la Cruz is a satire about how mean accuse and treat women poorly.  In the poem, there are many examples of how men cause issues with women, and then blame the women for the issues that they have caused.

For example, lines 57-60 read,

 "Why are you so alarmed
by the fault that is your own?
Wish women to be what you make them,
or make them what you wish they were." (264)

The author of this poems is frustrated with the unfair treatment women receive from men. Men treat women differently and poorly because of their actions, when their actions were caused by men themselves.
